Instructions for use:
working conditions:
The working room temperature should preferably be higher than 25 degrees Celsius. Maintain the temperature above 25°C for a full 72 hours until the epoxy cures/dries.
Application
Step 1: Measure the epoxy
Deco Resin 3309 is a two-part epoxy paint that is mixed at a 3-to-1 ratio.
Pour the measured amounts of hardener and resin into a new container. It is important that you use a new container for each batch you mix so that the next batch is not contaminated by leftover epoxy cured in the previous container.
Step 2: Mix the epoxy
Mix well to make sure the mixture is completely mixed.
Step 3: Paint on a coat of epoxy sealant
For porous materials such as wood, you will need to paint on a sealant coat of the same epoxy first to seal any pores in the surface. This prevents air bubbles from forming in the next layer. Not all surfaces require a sealant.
Step 4: Pour the epoxy layer
Pour the epoxy onto the surface working your way down along the area to a maximum thickness of 3mm at a time. The epoxy surface self-levels so there is no need to move it with any tools.
Step 5: Get rid of air bubbles using a torch or heat gun
Once you have finished pouring the epoxy (not a hair dryer), this process is the easiest step as it only takes 30 seconds to 1 minute. Keep the torch or heat gun a few inches from the surface and simply direct it back and forth until it covers the entire distance of the surface. The heat bursts any bubbles instantly.
Additional layers
Additional coats can usually be applied within 4 to 6 hours. If repainting is done within this time period, no sanding between coats will be necessary. If the previous layer has completely dried, it is recommended to sand lightly with 220 or 320 sandpaper to achieve a good bonding surface.
After sanding, you should wipe with a solvent such as alcohol, acetone or varnish thinner to remove any impurities from the surface.
Final finishing:
Epoxy dries within 12 hours. Leave it 72 hours before using the surface.
External applications:
Please note that although this product resists yellowing better than other epoxy products, it is not 100% UV resistant. Continuous exposure to outdoor UV rays over months or years will cause a loss of exterior gloss and gradual color changes.
