- It is resistant to water, heat and chemicals and can be polished or polished to a high shine if desired.
Instructions for use:
- Check the moisture content of the wood panels, the moisture content should be less than 15%, if the wood is still wet, let it dry before starting to pour any epoxy.
- Once the slabs are dry enough, sand and level the tile pieces as necessary. Remove all glue. If you used adhesive to bond the parts together, let it dry completely before continuing.
- All edges of the wood must be sealed to prevent bubbles from moving while filling the voids with resin. Most hardwoods and softwoods absorb resin easily and repel air.
- This can create convex bubbles which can be very difficult to stop or remove to prevent this; The wood surface must be sealed with a coat of Deco Resin 2103.
- After completely sealing the wood surface, let it dry for 8 hours.
- Secure the wooden planks in the box well, the wooden planks may move or float while pouring the resin.
- Save the box, and make sure it is closed tightly.
- Apply a release agent or wax to the containment box before pouring the resin to prevent the resin from sticking to the containment box. Always test materials before pouring.
- Calculate the amount of resin required, and ensure that all materials and tools are available before starting the casting process.
- Ensure that the box (mold) and wooden boards are leveled and any dirt or contaminants are removed.
- Deco Resin 2103 is best at 25°C; Make sure the resin package is not too hot or too cold before mixing.
- Pour to a depth ranging between 5-10 cm for each layer; Let it dry for 8 hours before adding the second layer.
- Measure carefully and do not change the proportions for any reason. To avoid excessive heating with large mixtures; Do not mix quantities exceeding 10 liters at a time.
- Use a stir stick or paint tool to mix the resin and hardener. Do not use an electric drill. Stir well for 2-3 minutes; Scrape the sides and bottom of the container. It is recommended to stir for two minutes in one bowl, then transfer the mixture to a new bowl and mix for an additional minute.
- Leave the mixture to solidify for several minutes, then remove any excess bubbles with a torch or heat gun. Make sure the resin does not overheat.
- Let it dry/harden for 48 hours at 25°C.
- Remove it from the mold (pouring).
- If necessary, use 120 grit sandpaper, then move to finer sanding as required. After sanding, clean the surface with a cloth dampened with isopropyl alcohol. Note that all sanding marks will disappear when the sealant is applied.
- Use Deco Resin 3309 for the final coating (see TDS). Apply one or more coats of Deco Resin 3309, for a strong, chemical- and heat-resistant shine like glass.
- For more protection, consider applying wax to the treated surface.
The added step will prevent fingertips and smudges, as well as prevent items from sticking to the new surface. Apply and polish according to instructions.
